Executive Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity Concentration


Program Description

The Executive Master of Science in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Cyber Security is designed to provide IT and business professionals with access to advanced training in the growing field of information security. Whether manager, programmer, database analyst or network engineer, all IT professions benefit from a proficiency in ensuring the confidentiality, availability and integrity of data. With trillions of dollars budgeted for cyber defense, this degree increases the marketability of professionals in any IT position.

Students can complete the program in 5 semesters (each year has 3 semesters), with online work during the first 13 weeks, a 3-day residency at the end of the 14th week, and a final week for the completion of final assignments and projects to be submitted at the end of the semester on week 15.

The program follows a delivery format customized for the working professional.  Taught by faculty experts, this degree will fast-track the students’ development in the new and emerging technologies needed to advance professionally in the cyber security aspect of IT and business fields.

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete New England College’s Executive Master of Science in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Cyber Security will be able to:

  • Identify technologies and trends related to cyber security that have strategic value for an organization and manage the implementation of those technologies.
  • Understand, design and implement security solutions related to database systems.
  • Design secure web and mobile applications.
  • Recognize the basic tenets of computer network security.
  • Define secure corporate solutions utilizing cloud technologies.
  • Implement responsive software solutions on multiple computer platforms.
  • Learn cyber security techniques including cryptography and ethical hacking procedures.
  • Manage Information security solutions for a variety of business and industry applications.

Low Residency Program

The program follows a 15-semester structure, with mandatory 3-day residencies during the 14th week of each term. Students must attend all residencies to continue enrolled in the program.

In the period before and after the residencies, students will complete their course work online. Instructors will maintain regular ‘virtual’ office hours and will be available to assist students as required throughout the semester.
