Program Description:

Experimental psychology involves using scientific methods to study human behavior, with emphasis on of basic psychological processes such as learning, memory, and cognition. The Concentration in Experimental Psychology is designed for students who want to start exploring potential interest in pursuing experimental psychology as their professional career. The profession of experimental psychologist normally requires significant advanced study, including a Master’s degree and preferably a Doctorate. This concentration intends to expose students to the basics of experimental psychology and provide them with a variety of ways that this type of work can develop their careers.

Students who complete the Concentration in Experimental Psychology should be able to:

• Understand how the scientific method is used to study human behavior

• Discuss ethical issues derived from the use of human subjects in experiments under controlled environments

• Analyze major influences on individuals behavior, thought process, and emotions

Experimental psychologists often work in private research centers and universities (where they are employed as professors), as well as nonprofit, business and government organizations.
