COUN 5210 - Diagnosis and the DSM This course addresses how the biological, developmental, neurological, psychosocial, cultural, and physiological factors influence human functioning and behavior. Based on the current version of the DSM, students will critically examine the diagnostic classification system and consider the contextual and systemic implications that impact psychiatric diagnosis and assessment. The clinical application of these principles is explored through study of relevant literature, investigation of case studies, and class discussions. Prerequisites: COUN 5140 , COUN 5510 , COUN 5520 , COUN 5910 , and COUN 6190 . This course has both synchronous components with faculty and student interaction via Zoom every week and asynchronous components with faculty and student interaction through Blackboard multiple times each week. Credits: 3
