COUN 5140 - Human Growth and Development This course provides an overview of human development throughout the lifespan. Students will examine the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social developmental factors that influence human behavior. The development of the individual will be explored by considering factors such as genetics, gender, race, class, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, acculturation, religion, and matters of addiction, trauma, resiliency, and wellness. Students will determine how development is ethically viewed when serving individuals from traditionally marginalized groups. This course is offered fully online, asynchronously with faculty and student interaction through Blackboard. Credits: 3
