Cybersecurity


Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity is geared towards both non-technical professionals whose current employment duties may be enhanced by study of Cybersecurity issues; it is also geared towards current IT professionals who desire to enhance and expand their effectiveness and marketability by adding a suite of cyber skills to their resumes. In addition, the program is also useful for Business and Project Management students who are interested in the management issues related to a study of cyber topics. The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security jointly sponsor the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense (IA/CD). The NEC program will follow the IA/CD model with the goal of receiving accreditation for all Cybersecurity programs, including associate, undergraduate and graduate level degree programs. 

Program Outcomes 

Upon completion of the undergraduate program in Cybersecurity, the student will be able to perform the following: 

  • Evaluate the computer network and information security needs of an organization. 
  • Evaluate Cybersecurity risk management policies in order to adequately protect an organization’s critical information and assets. 
  • Measure the performance of security systems within an enterprise-level information system. 
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and update an enterprise-level information security system. 
  • Implement continuous network monitoring and provide real-time security solutions. 
  • Formulate, update and communicate short and long-term organizational Cybersecurity strategies and policies. 
  • Successfully complete a security examination and achieve certification in basic security principles and applications.
