NU 1150 - Cooperative Experience I

In the first of three Cooperative Learning Experiences, students learn to integrate and apply core knowledge from the liberal arts and sciences with foundational nursing knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors as the basis for providing safe, quality, and patientcentered care for diverse populations across the lifespan and care continuum. By introducing concept exemplars, this course scaffolds pathophysiology, pharmacology, and clinical practice over the knowledge, skills, and behaviors learned in the first two Professional Nursing and Health Assessment course sequences. Comprehensive concept presentation units focus on the biophysical concepts of acid-base balance, fluid and electrolytes, gas exchange/oxygenation, perfusion, and elimination. Learning experiences include classroom theory, RN student patient care management experiences, and employment as an LNA at one of our cooperative partner organizations. Prerequisites: NU 1130 - Professional Nursing II  & NU 1140 - Health Assessment II    Credits: 12
