NU 1130 - Professional Nursing II


This course is the second of two foundational nursing courses building on the knowledge and concepts introduced in Professional Nursing I and Health Assessment I and introduces the student to additional psychosocial concepts, including adherence, cognition, development, family, functional ability, grief and loss, and self-management. Additionally, this course introduces students to the biophysical concepts of protection/movement and homeostasis/regulation. Protection and movement concepts include comfort, immunity, infection, inflammation, mobility, pain, sensory perception, and tissue integrity. Homeostasis and regulation concepts include acid-base balance, digestion, elimination, fluid and electrolyte balance, gas exchange/oxygenation, metabolism, nutrition, and perfusion. Prerequisite: NU 1110 - Professional Nursing I  & NU 1120 - Health Assessment I    Credits: 4
