NU 3040 - Health Informatics and Information Literacy This course will support the professional nurse in explore and gaining the advanced skills and knowledge in patient care technology, information management, and effective interdisciplinary communication. Nursing informatics requires an understanding of nursing science, computer science, cognitive science, and information science. Students will gain an understanding of the development and analysis of information systems, as well as the evaluation of information systems. Technology can support and enhance patient care, and can be used to monitor and improve outcomes, quality, and safety. Information management and computer literacy are essential competencies.
