Pre Fall 1 2021 description AC2210 (BU2210) Financial Accounting - This course examines basic concepts and principles of financial accounting. After completing the accounting cycle, emphasis is placed on the recording and reporting of financial information conforming to the generally accepted accounting principles published by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, its predecessors, and the Security and Exchange Commission. 

Original Course Learning Outcomes - 

  1. Define the appropriate financial accounting vocabulary, concepts, and institutions  
  2. Explain and appreciate the role of financial accounting in an organization  
  3. Identify principles of double entry and basic financial accounting procedures  
  4. Recognize, record, report, and analyze various common financial transactions  
  5. Journalize all common transactions, close all accounts at the end of the accounting cycle, and prepare the pertinent trial balances  
  6. Properly treat cash, inventories, accounts receivable, other current assets, long-term assets, accounts payable, stockholders’ equity, and other current and long-term liabilities  
  7. Recognize, prepare, and post all required adjusting entries  
  8. Prepare an income statement, balance sheet, statement of retained earnings, and statement of cash flows  
  9. Analyze and interpret the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows  
  10. Prepare common-size statements and perform ratio analyses as well as comparative and trend analyses  
  11. Utilize skills related to framing, analyzing, and making financial decisions  
  12. Present complex financial information in a useful and meaningful way
