Program Description
New England College’s Executive Master of Science in Information Technology Project Management program provides professionals working in technology a path of development focusing on proven technical and leadership skills required to address the changing global marketplace. The curriculum is designed for students to create and foster the development of leaders who can manage projects based upon their understanding of organizational dynamics, ability to assess and manage risk, support multiple stakeholders, address organizational change, and execute timely projects while maintaining business value.
Because of the program’s focus, this 40-credit Masters can be completed in approximately two years. The course delivery and structure are specifically designed for working professionals to make the most efficient use of time and to optimize the learning experience.
Program Outcomes
This program is designed for technology students seeking to enhance overall strategic thinking, project management, and business acumen to successfully transition into the management and successful execution of projects.
Our goal is to provide the knowledge and skills through a wider lens to become a successful project manager who is at ease dealing with complex information, organizational challenges, and leading others in the shifting landscape within project management.
NEC’s program will enable students to:
- Assess organizational IT project management needs, complexity, and magnitude.
- Coordinate activities across IT project management functional areas and process groups.
- Communicate effectively with IT project management interdisciplinary teams building shared understanding.
- Recommend IT project management solutions for improvement based on quality gaps.
- Apply IT project management skills and concepts to solve project-based and organizational challenges.
Residency-Based Hybrid Delivery
The program follows a 3 term per academic year structure, with mandatory 3-day in-person attendance on campus each term. Students must attend all in-person sessions to continue enrollment in the program. In the period before and after the in-person sessions, students will complete their course work online. Instructors will maintain regular ‘virtual;’ office hours and be able to assist students as required throughout the term.
Internship
An Internship* is required each term, starting the first term.
*For F1 students to fulfill the program internship requirement, CPT may be authorized, starting the first term.
