Accepting Students Beginning Fall 2023

Program Description

The Human Services program is a co-operative major designed to prepare students for working in the human service field at the individual, family, and community level. Human service professionals work with a variety of populations that include the developmentally disabled, the elderly, immigrants and refugees, substance abusers, and crime victims and offenders to help meet their basic needs and improve their well-being, Students will apply their coursework to multiple real-world, paid work experiences in the human service field for college credit. 

Program Learning Outcomes

Students in the Human Services major

  1. explain the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in human services
  2. will employ the scientific approach to solve problems and to categorize theory, theoretical perspectives, and empirical findings in various domains of human services.
  3. will construct ethical values and socially responsible environments that underpin the scientific field of human services.
  4. will perform oral and written communication skills in a variety of settings.
  5. will employ knowledge, skills, and values in occupational pursuits
