A student who completes this degree program will:

  • demonstrate proficiency with and extensive knowledge of the tools and language of Graphic Design
  • create work which will reflect fluency with broader historical, contemporary, cultural and social contexts
  • apply quantitative methods and entrepreneurial skills to develop professional practices.
  • create connections between their own work and that of their peers, within and across disciplinary boundaries
  • demonstrate leadership and collaboration in individual and group settings
  • relate their work to broader communities and be advocates for the critical role of the arts in improving society
  • demonstrate purposeful integration of multiple modes of expression to create meaning in a variety of contexts
  • articulate ideas in ways that are compelling, engaging, and relevant to a particular or general audience
  • demonstrate an awareness of the social context and subjectivity of their own ideas
  • demonstrate social and global awareness by articulating a perspective on power in the world and their own place in the global community
  • assess ideas, synthesize multiple perspectives, and generate innovative questions, interpretations, and/or approaches within a field of inquiry
  • employ these skills in the delivery and application of critical feedback and in demonstrating the ability to revisit their work accordingly
  • adopt new perspectives, take risks, and persist when confronting challenges, failures, and successes in their growth
  • demonstrate ethical scholarly practice in their creative and academic work
  • demonstrate behavior that reflects a stance of ethical and social responsibility and advocacy for their own physical and emotional health, as well as their active participation in community

Art History Courses


Foundations Core, BFA


Taken in the first year.  (15 Credits)

Liberal Arts Courses, BFA


Take a total of 24 credits with a prefix of SCI or HUM, with at least two courses in each area.

Studio Electives


Select 12 credits of Studio Electives.
