HIM 6035 - Health Informatics Compliance and Integrity Healthcare is heavily legislated and regulated across federal and state jurisdictions. In this course, students will gain foundational knowledge of the laws, regulations, and accreditation practices associated with confidentiality and privacy surrounding health data. The security of health data acquisition, storage, and use on all levels of health informatics is critical. Students will explore these topics from the perspective of the rule making agencies like the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services. Students will also discuss health informatics risk management and compliance from the perspective of stakeholders and the users of these systems. Credits: 3
