Graduation Requirements: All Graduate Degree Programs
New England College will confer degrees 7 times for the 2023-2024 Academic Year:
- July 15, 2023
- September 15, 2023
- October 31, 2023
- December 31, 2023
- January 31, 2024
- March 31, 2024
- May 18, 2024 (annual commencement ceremony; some students may be awarded for May 19, 2024 if that is the end date of their term)
To be considered for degree candidacy, the student must submit an Intent to Graduate Form by December 1 of the year preceding degree completion. Failure to submit this form could delay official degree awarding until the college’s next official conferral date.
All graduation requirements must be met within six years of entering the program, except for the EdD program which must be completed within seven years of entering the program (see specific EdD policy below). Petitions for extension must be submitted in writing to the Dean of the Division.
All candidates must earn a final grade of B‐ or better in each required course and attain a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average on all graduate credit earned at New England College, based on a 4.00 scale.

Graduation Requirements for Master Degrees
Master degree candidates must complete all degree requirements, as outlined in the individual program descriptions, including successfully earning a minimum of thirty to sixty-four graduate credits, depending on the degree program.
Use of course credits toward more than one graduate degree at New England College are limited. No more than 50% of credits from one degree may be used toward earning a second graduate degree, subject to Program Director approval. No transfer credits may be used for more than one graduate degree at New England College.
For the Master of Education degree, courses applied to a single concentration may not be applied to a second concentration for the same degree.
Graduation Requirements for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree
Students admitted after July 1, 2022, will demonstrate knowledge of core business concepts through either:
- overall score on the Peregrine graduate level test in Business Administration that meets or exceeds 60% of the mean score of students enrolled at US ACBSP-accredited institutions, or
- scores that meet or exceed 60% of the mean score of students enrolled at US ACBSP-accredited institutions, on the Peregrine Graduate Test in Business Administration, in each of these 11 topics: Accounting, Business Ethics, Business Finance, Business Leadership, Economics, Global Dimensions of Business, Information Management Systems, Legal Environment of Business, Management, Marketing, Quantitative Research Techniques and Statistics.
Graduation Requirements for the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS)
CAGS programs provide professional development for educators beyond the master’s degree level.
CAGS candidates must complete all degree requirements, as outlined in the individual program descriptions, including successfully earning a minimum of thirty-four graduate credits. Some CAGS degrees with attached certifications may require additional credits to be earned, as outlined in the individual program descriptions.
Students who have already earned a graduate degree from New England College may be eligible to use some courses from their previous degree toward requirements within a CAGS degree. The number of credits applied to the CAGS degree from a previously earned graduate degree from New England College are subject to the maximum allowable overlap established by the Graduate Council of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. Courses applied to a single CAGS concentration may not be applied to a second concentration for the same degree.
Graduation Requirements for the Doctor in Education (EdD) Degree
- Completion of the courses in the EdD program;
- Faculty approved dissertation proposal;
- Faculty approved comprehensive project;
- Faculty approved dissertation;
Program Completion Policy
The Doctorate of Education program must be completed within seven years from start date. However, students may take a leave of absence with the approval of the program director and a leave of absence will not be counted towards completion time. Including leaves of absences, the program length must not exceed 10 years from the start date. In extenuating circumstances, extensions beyond 10 years may be granted with approval of the Program Director and and Dean of the Division.
