ED 5255 - Social Emotional Learning Competencies in K-12 Classrooms

Students develop a foundational understanding of five social emotional learning (SEL) competencies: self-awareness; self-management; responsible decision making; relationship skills; and social awareness. Integrating SEL competencies fosters positive classroom environments for students and educators. These competencies can serve as stand-alone programs or they can be infused within content curricula. Students will examine both approaches to determine which is most effective for their current educational setting. Credits: 3
