ED 8160 - Professional Learning Communities and Networks for Education In an interconnected world where professional development can be pursued virtually anywhere, it can become overwhelming for educational leaders to curate, reflect, and share best practices with one another and within their educational organizations and communities. Research is clear that the collaborative nature of the professional learning community (PLC) model works to increase student academic growth and positive education organizational culture. This course will define what a professional learning community is, how it is sustained by professional learning networks (PLN), and how educational leaders can initiate, support, and sustain PLCs in their own organization. Students in this course will also learn how to develop and recruit for their own PLNs. Credits: 4
