HS 1160 - U.S. History to 1877
It is impossible to understand modern America without a thorough examination of the country’s colonial and revolutionary origins. The foundations of our democracy and legal system were established eighteenth century, and our national struggles over race and religion date back even further. In this first half of the U.S. History survey, we will navigate across the ocean with European colonists, confront them alongside Native inhabitants, revolt against our British overlords, establish a republic founded on the values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and study its descent into civil war over the intractable problem of slavery. Offered every Fall Credits: 4
