ILL 3650 - Business of Illustration

This course will focus on standard business practices in the field of illustration. Through a series of lectures and exercises students will explore branding, marketing and promotional practices, contracts, and resume development. Students will also learn the process of working with an art director as a freelance artist, navigating the challenges of pricing, contracts, deadlines, and invoicing. A variety of guest speakers will meet with the class to discuss both sides of the artist/art director relationship. Artist representation will also be covered in this class.
