EN 3070 (PL 3070) - Dystopian Literature


Through the lens of literature, this course will examine the concept and context of the ways dystopian literature has been imagined by writers as a means of social and cultural commentary. Through close reading of novels and short stories, students will analyze the various dimensions and repeating symbols of the imagined dystopian future. We will ask ourselves the ways in which humanity is defined when humans inhabit a frightening and dangerous place. Note: This course is eligible as an elective for the Women and Gender Studies major. Credits: 4 This is a reading and writing intensive course.
