PHO 203 - The Handmade Photo

This course explores the history and practice of 19th century photographic printing techniques, including the cyanotype, albumen and the palladium print. Students will spend time in class making images with a 4x5 view camera. The remaining class time will be devoted to mastering the craft aspects of creating hand-coated prints using light sensitive chemistry and a variety of fine art papers and related contact printing equipment.
