ED 6141 - The Art & Power of Storytelling Stories are the medium of our lives. They are what move us, make us feel alive, and inspire us by stirring our emotions. In this course, participants will learn the art of turning information into meaning through the logic and process of story. Educators will learn practical instruction in the art of storytelling and effective storytelling strategies for children and adults. The class will explore how this exciting art form can be used to enliven classroom learning, build communities, and provide creative entertainment. Participants will learn how they can become imaginative, confident storytellers and more engaging speakers by developing dynamic vocal and physical delivery skills, creating stronger connections to their audiences, and employing a natural, spontaneous style. The multicultural history of oral tradition and interdisciplinary applications of the art of storytelling will also be examined. (3 Credits) Meets MED and CAGS concentration requirement: Storytelling/ English
