AMS 5550 - Remembering America The essence of American Studies is the American experience studied through the lenses of many disciplines at once. Remembering is the function primarily of historians as they sift through the evidence left by our predecessors. Once gathered and analyzed, the story is shared. Remembering America courses are historical first, but explore history through the lenses of all disciplines. Some courses that have or will be offered under this seminar include: Women and Gender in 20th Century America; Communities and Crisis in Modern America; 1968, A Year That Changed America; Slavery, Cotton and Cataclysm.
