Environmental Studies

Program Description

The Environmental Studies major prepares students to solve environmental problems through conventional, innovative, and sustainable solutions.  Students learn how the environmental and social impacts of human activity can be addressed through the application of the process of science, and an understanding of the political, social, and economic context of environmental issues.  Students work with faculty, community members, and a network of professionals to gain technical skills, and practical real-world experience. Students have the option to focus on sustainability through courses that provide science and business perspectives on how organizations, businesses, and communities are addressing the environmental issues of the 21st century. Students are prepared for graduate programs in the sciences and sustainability, as well as careers with environmental consulting firms, local, state, federal agencies, environmental organizations, and as sustainability professionals.
