ED 7120 - School Facilities and Risk Management


The quality, safety, and functionality of school facilities are paramount. School superintendents and others involved in school operations must be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to ensure that district facilities are not only conducive to learning but also safe and secure. This course will explore a range of topics related to facilities and risk management, including short and long-term planning and design, evaluation of existing facilities, maintenance and upkeep, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance. Participants will discuss issues related to managing risks and mitigating physical hazards to addressing environmental concerns. Participants will develop an understanding of how to assess, manage, and optimize school facilities to create an environment that promotes student well-being, academic success, and community engagement while minimizing potential risks.
