AHT 4010 - Contemporary Art Since 1945

An in-depth exploration of theory and practice in the visual arts from the aftermath of World War II to the present. Issues discussed include the legacy of modernism, the exploration of media and subject matter, and the relationship between art and society. Media covered include painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, architecture, and design, along with performance, film and video, and conceptual art. An emphasis will be placed on analysis and discussion of artistic theory and critical writings. Credits: 4 Formerly AHT 401. Offered as needed.
