CJ 3140 - Criminal Law


This course is designed to introduce students to the substantive aspects of  criminal law. Students will examine the origins of criminal law, its role in society and the  concept of criminal responsibility. In addition, we will discuss the sources of criminal law; the general principles of criminal responsibility; defenses; the specifics of numerous crimes including homicide, sex offenses, crimes against persons, and property crimes; narcotic and alcohol offenses; punishment; and sentencing options. Prerequisites: CJ 1110 . Open to Junior/Senior level students only. Credits: 4
