AHT 3230 - American Art and Democratic Ideals This course examines the ways that art has reflected the ideals and values of American Democracy or has challenged those ideals, values, and practices. We will explore specific examples of art works throughout American history, from the Colonial Period through the present day, to develop a deeper understanding of the way that artistic expression can deliver powerful messages that reinforce and challenge values and even serve as agents of change.
