MT 1002 - Essential Mathematics II This course will focus on basic pre‐algebra topics such as: real numbers, variable, algebraic expressions, solving equations and inequalities in one variable, translating and solving applied problems, and exponents and scientific notation, simple polynomial expressions. Topics will be presented in appropriate contexts rather than as isolated concepts. This course is intended for students who need review of basic pre‐algebra skills. Students may be required to take this course on the basis of their placement test scores. This course counts 2 credits towards graduation credit but does not satisfy the College’s mathematics requirement. Prerequisites: C- or better in MT 1001 or adequate performance on the mathematics placement test. Offered every semester. (2 credits)
