BI 1111 - General Biology ‐ Biodiversity, Evolution and Ecology This course module examines the biology, ecology, and evolutionary relationships among living organisms. A survey of life forms will include prokaryotes, protists, fungi, plants and animals, using their evolutionary history and examples relevant to humans and society. This course also covers concepts important in community structure and dynamics such as species composition, species interactions, trophic structure, and food chains. In addition, energy flow and chemical cycling will be investigated at the ecosystem level. Laboratory portion includes tree identification, biological diversity, and ecological processes. (Meets the first seven weeks of every fall semester). Offered every Fall semester. (2 Credits)
