AR 2230 (HS 2230) - History of American Art and Architecture What is “American” about American art? How do the political, social and cultural events and ideals of an era shape the art and artists that emerge from it? This course will examine the visual culture of the United States from the colonial period through the early twentieth century. We will study art and architecture made in America as a reflection of its social, political, economic and cultural values. Seven week course. Offered every fourth year. Credits: 2 Offered as needed.
