SM 3390 (KI 3390) - Advanced Coaching Seminar: Management & Leadership Designed for both administrators and coaches, this upper-level seminar will deal with coaching issues beyond the Xs and Os. Focusing on team management and leadership, the course will examine coaching styles, bench management, leadership, off-field/court/ice issues, team culture, community relations, methods of evaluation, ethics, coaching philosophies, and defining a “successful season.” The objective of this course is to familiarize students with issues faced in the coaching profession and gain tools to manage and lead successfully. The seminar will incorporate lectures, discussions, handout readings, case study analyses, essays, and projects. Prerequisite: Junior Status or Permission of Instructor (2 Credits)
